NOTEWORTHY: Nigerian Students Invent Super-fast Chicken De-feathering Machine

I think we've got something here people. This is some useful innovation right, especially as we like to eat in this country :)

As their final year project for their bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Obafemi Awolowo University, two students - Adedoyin Adebodun, Adeleke and  Adekitan Abimbola, Oyenuga designed an electrically-operated chicken de-feathering machine using stainless steel, mild steel, elastomer feather pluckers and electric motor as major materials. Their machine completely de-feathers a chicken in 6-10 seconds.

Based on my online research on chicken de-feathering machines, theirs is the fastest chicken de-feathering machine available. Machines of similar specifications takes an average of 20 seconds. Their project was supervised by Dr. B.V. Omidiji and their work has been published in the journal of Engineering and Engineering Technology ISSN 1598-0271, Vol. 7 No. 2)

Watch the video below to see a demo of their work.
