Briefly: Retirement Homes Replace Slaughter Houses, For Aged Cows In India

The government of the state of Maharashtra banned the slaughter of cows and the possession of beef in the state, earlier this year.
The ban prevents people from selling their aging cows to slaughterhouses. This raised the question of what to do with older cows.

Cow retirement homes have become an increasingly popular destination for aging cows.

About 25,000 cow shelters around India provide cattle with protection from illegal slaughter and comfortable surroundings in which to spend their last years.

Isn't that amazing?
