#‎AfricasBiggestBookProject‬ Narrator Spotlight: Orode Ryan-Okpu


Orode Ryan-Okpu is a 26 years old Psychology graduate from the University of Windsor, Ontario, Canada who started her mission to change the world at age 15.


In recent times however, she became an executive team member for the 12:01 charity group, an organization founded by the University of Windsor to help children with Leprosy. She worked her way up and became the VP External affairs.
 

In the middle of school year in 2007, Orode started her own foundation called Pink Pearl Foundation (www.pinkpearl-foundation.org) where they aid Nigerian women who have breast and cervical cancer. The foundation is focused on reducing the mortality rate caused by Breast and Cervical cancer by creating awareness around the nation.

With over 70 events done across Nigeria, Cameroon and South Africa and over 10,000 women screened for free and 20,000 women who have gained from their vast awareness campaigns, PPF is no doubt the no1 pioneer of the fight against breast cancer in Nigeria.


Currently working on her Masters degree in Public Health, Orode is making a lot of effort to keep up the work she started in 2007 and help the women in this country be someday cancer free. To help further her awareness campaign Orode produced a movie called Living Funeral, a breast cancer awareness based movie that has since its release gotten a lot of attention from across the globe:

Diverting from breast cancer awareness, Orode started a Women Empowerment School known as Rubies School of Vocational Studies, where where she serves as a Director. Established in 2013, the school has aided 235 women in becoming entrepreneurs and business owners, by teaching them skills in different areas. With a charity arm called Rubies School of Women Empowerment, a few less privileged women are aided with materials to help set up their business after the school year.


Orode is now CEO/Co- Founder of Exclusive Brands Africa (EBA), a conglomerate responsible for importing known international consumer and non consumer brands into Africa. Some of their brands include:

Orode is a current A+ Student at the University of Southern California pursing a Masters degree in Public Health, she is hoping to improve her knowledge in Health Management to aid her mission in creating a better health sector in her country Nigeria.
