Briefly: Nigerian Firms To Generate Electricity From Solar

For those who missed this yesterday, this is good news!
In a bid to drive the Nigeria's economy towards new energy sources, the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has issued on-grid licences to four companies to generate 774 megawatts (mw) of electricity on Monday in Abuja. Meanwhile, two of the companies given the licence are to generate electricity from solar while others will ride on gas.
The companies, Pan Africa Solar Limited, based in Kankia, Katsina State and Nigeria Solar Capital Partners Limited, based in Ganjuwa, Bauchi State were issued the license to generate 24mw and 100mw respectively from solar.
While, Proton Energy Limited, based in Ogorode, Delta State, and Turbine Drives Limited, based in Ajaokuta will generate 150mw and 500mw respectively from gas.
Sam Amadi, chairman of NERC, implored the companies to abide by international best practices in the industry and strive to delight consumers as failure to do so would result in the revocation of their licence.
