Briefly: No Writing Of Books In Honour Of Serving Judges

The National Judicial Council has issued an express order that forbids the writing of books in honour of serving judges. This has become necessary to prevent cases where judges may become compromised after accepting donations from litigants especially politicians who may donate huge sums to the judge during his/her book launch.
A recent example is that of the Esama of Benin Kingdom, Chief Gabriel Esama, who donated N8m towards the book launch, 'Encyclopedia of Civil Procedures and Practices of Superior Courts.' on April 30, 2015 same day Justice Mohammed Liman of the Federal High Court in Abuja sentenced one of Igbinedion's sons, Michael, to a six-year jail term with an option of N3m fine for N25bn money laundering offences.
