Briefly: Heatwave Worsens In India

The heatwave in India is becoming alarming as temperatures approached 50C (122F) in parts of the country. Allahabad, a city in the north, saw the mercury touch 47.7 C (117.8F) on Sunday and in Delhi, the capital, a high of 43.5C (110.3F) was recorded.


Over 350 people had been reported dead due to heatstroke and extreme dehydration including a taxi driver in Kolkata who died in his cab.

The heat wave was aggravated due to power shortage across India. People were advised to stay back home and drink lots of water as the heat wave was predicted to become more severe in the country for the rest of the month
